Letter From the Past: Personal Qualities

In the field of computer science one must possess many skills. From the Occupational Outlook handbook I have learned that among these skills are computer programming, engineering, and communication. They are the people who develop and adapt principles for applying computers to new uses. In every occupation ones personal qualities can either make them rise or cause their downfall. I in turn possess several personal qualities. I am reliable, responsible, punctual, determined and I have integrity. I believe that these skills will in fact help me out a lot in seeking employment. Many employers look for someone to be reliable, punctual, and etc. With these skills that I possess I believe I will have no problem in getting the job that I'm looking for.

To be reliable means to be able to be trusted to do what is expected or has been promised. I am reliable because when I am expected to do something by a certain date I make sure that its done days in advance with the least amount of errors. I look to be the best at whatever I do even if it means sacrificing my leisure time. If I feel like something needs to be done I make sure that it gets done right and it is what is expected of me or better.

To be responsible means to be able to be counted on owing to qualities of conscientiousness and trustworthiness. I am responsible because at this age there are a lot of decisions that have to be made. Among these decisions are whether or not I'm going to smoke, drink, cut school, and etc. My conscience tells me that these are all things that will in fact destroy my future if I lead myself into it. I know that I am trusted to make the right decisions and I have. I choose not to do those things and to make the most out of my future. So if I can take responsibility with my life I believe that I can be responsible in the work place.

To be punctual means to be arriving or taking place at the arranged time. I am punctual because the way I see it that the earlier you arrive the more time you have to prepare for the rest of the day. In school I try my best to get where I have to go as fast as possible. I treat my schoolwork just as I would regular work. In school I get to my classes on time to prepare and get ready for class. Therefore I have more time to do the work set out for me because once class officially starts I am already prepared and ready to work. So I believe that if I can do this in school I can do much better in the workplace.

To be determined means to be feeling or showing firmness or a fixed purpose. I am determined because I don't like to give up. If I am expected to do something or I want to do something I will not give up until I have done the best I can. If I have done the best I can I still will not give up. I may take some time to reevaluate what I am going to do but I in fact will never give up on anything I do.

To have integrity means to have the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards. I have integrity because if I feel something is right no matter what I will continue to go with it unless it has proven otherwise. I am a hard worker and like to finish things in a timely manner with high standards. I believe that the more time you spend on things the better they come out. I'm the kind of person that likes to spend as much time on something as possible but still finish early.
